THINKING OF JOINING CBA/ABATE? Want to know more about who we are? Please read on....

CBA/ABATE of NC is a member-driven democratic organization. We are committed to serving the wishes of the membership determined by majority vote. We strive to reclaim and preserve the rights and freedoms of all motorcyclists regardless of affiliation with other organizations or political persuasions.

In order to effect change within our organization, the Board of Directors strongly encourage our membership to participate in all committees and provide input regarding the direction we should go. CBA/ABATE of NC meets quarterly and everyone is invited to attend, whether you are a member or not.

If you are not a member, we encourage you to join our organization and become active on the issues that concern you. To join, click here:  Join CBA/ABATE of NC

Moving forward in 2008, the Executive Council comprised of the chapter officers of the organization endorses the following position regarding helmet laws:

"CBA/ABATE of NC is not opposed to helmets, HOWEVER, we are opposed to helmet laws. It is neither our intention, nor our desire, to prevent anyone from riding with a helmet if they so choose. WE are OPPOSED to legislative mandating of inappropriate, antiquated, and dangerous restrictive standards. We believe the rider should have the right to make a reasoned decision, or personal choice, regarding helmets and other safety equipment. In other words "LET THOSE WHO RIDE DECIDE"

Our legislative agenda for the 2008/2009 session is as follows:

§           Continue efforts to repeal the helmet law.

§           Continue to build positive relationships with legislators.

§           Reduce or remove discriminatory and dangerous concepts in SB 375 threat to "Learners Permit".

§           Reduce or remove threats to the right to associate freely in SB 1324/HB 274 "Street Gang Prevention Act".

§           Identify alternative funding for and lobby for passage of SB 1121 "Motorcycle Crash Prevention Research Center ".

§           Increase consequences for right of way violations.

§           Introduce legislation for Anti-Discrimination/Equal Access Legislation for 2009.

§           Work with federal motorcycle rights organizations on issues that concern motorcyclists nationwide, including repair of

the exclusionary loophole in the HIPPA Act.

CBA/ABATE is more than just a legislative organization. Our members know there is something for everyone. Whatever your interest is in motorcycling, you will find a place to fit in, meet some really great people  and have some fun along the way!
